Dr. Lee Alward, chair of the AGS Research Committee, announced that Dr. Malik Y. Kahook, from Denver, Colorado has been awarded the second Pfizer Grant for Research into Patient Adherence to Care.  The $50,000 award will fund the project entitled "Effect of Glaucoma Educators on Adherence to Prescribed Therapeutic Regimens in Glaucoma Patients". Dr. Kahook was one of several remarkably strong applications, and the AGS looks forward to the outcome of his work.

The AGS thanks Dr. Lee Alward and the members of the AGS Research Committee for their efforts in reviewing these applications and for meeting face to face in Las Vegas during the 2006 AAO Annual Meeting to make the final decision regarding this year’s recipient.
