The Division of Ophthalmology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) seeks to recruit a full-time glaucoma surgeon. This position will include patient care at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and offsite locations. Our state-of-the-art ambulatory operating rooms currently accommodate the entire range of eye surgeries, including minimally-invasive and/or complex glaucoma procedures. The successful candidate for this position may be considered for Harvard Medical School appointment as Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor commensurate with experience, training and achievements in addition to teaching activities.
 
Our division is one of the affiliates of the Harvard Ophthalmology residency program based at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and our faculty work closely with trainees, including residents and fellows. Glaucoma Specialist

Consideration will be given to applicants with an interest in clinical or basic research and comes with the opportunity to participate in our educational program including medical students, residents, and fellows.

Position Key Accountabilities:
This is an academic appointment with research and teaching opportunities and expectations. We are looking for a clinician interested in building a busy practice at our primary location, the Cizik Eye Clinic, located within the Texas Medical Center. Other responsibilities may include resident and/or fellow supervision at our county hospital, Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, which is central to and the primary location of our education programs. 
This is an academic track with the potential for tenure. Appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be determined in accordance with experience.
Qualifications:
 
Applicants should have completed fellowship training or equivalent in glaucoma, be board certified/eligible in ophthalmology, and be eligible for a medical license in the state of Texas.

Your Role on the Team
The Comprehensive Ophthalmology position is a staff physician position within the Department of Ophthalmology located at UCI Health. The primary clinical site will be at our Yorba Linda satellite, with some coverage at Irvine and Orange facilities. This staff physician position does not have a teaching or research requirements. The Comprehensive Ophthalmology position focuses on the delivery of eye care to the level of expertise of the physician with the referral of cases to tertiary care subspecialty ophthalmologists as appropriate. 
 
The position focuses on primary management of ophthalmic diseases including anterior segment, ocular surface, medical glaucoma, and retinal screening. This position offers the practitioner the opportunity to create long term relationships with their patients in the life-long care of their eye health. Surgical procedures within the Comprehensive Ophthalmologist expertise and competency are allowed but not required. 
 
The ideal candidates will provide excellent patient care, ensuring quality outcomes and satisfaction. In addition, we would like our talented physician candidates to have a passion for outpatient medicine and be fully committed to mission of University of California, Irvine Gavin Herbert Eye Institute.
