San Francisco Local Attractions

In 2019, the American Glaucoma Society’s Annual Meeting is returning to our hometown, San Francisco. We’re excited to welcome you to our beautiful city, where you can explore our diverse neighborhoods, award-winning restaurants, and exceptional parks, art, and architecture. From the Golden Gate Bridge to the Bay Bridge, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Be sure to take some time to enjoy some of San Francisco’s neighborhood highlights:

Chinatown

Pass through the ornate Dragon Gate, shop for treasures, do a tea tasting, watch fortune cookies being made, and sample authentic dim sum.

North Beach/Little Italy

Spend some money at Lawrence Ferlinghetti’s City Lights bookstore, catch a performance of Beach Blanket Babylon, and have a brandy-spiked cappuccino at Tosca.

Fisherman’s Wharf

Indulge in a sundae at Ghirardelli Square, chat with the sea lions at Pier 39, climb aboard historic ships and submarines, and partake in a sourdough chowder bowl.

The Mission District

Tour the murals, visit Mission Dolores, discover the curious world of Paxton Gate, and enjoy a famous Mission burrito.

SoMa

Make some time for MOMA, the Contemporary Jewish museum, or the Museum of the African Diaspora; and take your pick from the multitude of highly-rated restaurants.
